Too Damn Sincere is a performance collaboration between Christine Stiver and Tracie Jiggetts. The sensations of teeth scraping silverware and silverware scraping porcelain undermine the sincerity of manners. The tenor of these sounds is akin to white noise until our attention has been drawn to them, when they transform into a cacophonous distraction.

You clip your knuckle with the edge of the fork, then watch it bleed through white fibers, leaving a brown stain in your tablecloth. You cover the stain with a plate when company comes over, as though you could hide it from yourself. But still, you pull silver from between your teeth. You smile through it.
